P003 → Tile Project—Stripe Series
The Tile Project—Stripe Series—which I’ve been gradually working on since 2024, uses a process similar to screen printing, layering different colored glazes onto the tiles in stages. Each time a new color is applied, the tile has to be fired to set the glaze, repeating the glazing and firing cycle over and over. Due to a bit of human error in the process, the layered colors often shift out of alignment. And since the tiles don’t absorb glaze well, the glaze powder can easily fall off with the slightest mishandling—meaning I sometimes have to start all over again (deep breaths ). The whole process is laborious and time-consuming. I feel clumsy and exhausted—but my curiosity about how the final result will turn out keeps me showing up at the studio day after day. Why do I do this to myself?
2024 年開始慢慢進行的磁磚計畫－條紋系列，以類似孔版印刷方式將不同顏色的彩釉分批堆疊至磁磚上，且每上一種顏色，就需燒融以固色，如此不斷重複上釉燒製。顏色的堆疊因手工的誤差，易產生偏移；而磁磚不吸釉的關係，常常一不小心導致釉粉脫落而需要重新來過（冷靜深呼吸😮💨）。整個過程費工費時，覺得自己好笨好累，但又乖乖地持續到工作室報到，到底...
